Temporal Lifting

Temporal lifting is an option for those who do not want a full brow lift. These people are usually in their thirties and experience problems with their lateral brows that drop off to the side near the temples which causes a tired and sad look. Minimal elevation forces the eyes to open up and the brows to lift, so that the patient has a more youthful look.

The procedure can be performed under direct local anesthesia, or even general anesthesia. The surgery is very similar to a brow lift, but the incisions are only placed in the temporal area. An incision is made in the temple area. The surgeon undermines the area, lifts and excises excess skin, then closes the area with sutures and staples. This helps draw up the skin from the eyebrow area, lifting the eyes to a higher level and enhancing the overall appearance in this area of the face. The identical procedure is performed on the opposite side.

Recovery Period:

Initial: 2–4 days

Complete: 10 days

The benefit of a temporal lift is that the patient doesn’t have the full incision that is needed for a brow lift. It gives distinct elevation in the area of concern. Most patients prefer this less invasive procedure, but not all patients are good candidates, so consult our chief plastic surgeon before you choose.
